Root Canal Treatment
Root Canal Treatment in Toronto
Each of our teeth encases a long, thin filament of dental pulp. This strand contains nerves, which reach down to the tooth's root, and transmit nutrients to the tooth. In cases where the pulp becomes infected, the nerves within the tooth die and, quite often, without interventional endodontic treatment, the tooth may die as well. Root canals aim to salvage such traumatized teeth.
The initial phase of the procedure requires that a hole be drilled into the tooth’s crown and pulp chamber, infected pulp is remodeled or extracted, and the tooth is permanently sealed with a gold, porcelain, or tooth-colored inlay/onlay or crown.
